Oh my gosh I love Carted! I just started using it and already it has been so helpful to save links, track things I’m shopping for to compare. Also I can appreciate this level of organization, my Notion “Wardrobe” is like a multi level document situation 😂
WOW. As someone who desperately wants to shop more vintage, but has absolutely no interest in spending hours scouring racks or websites this is a game changer. Also, Carted is so genius...I'm constantly toggling between the items in my pinterest wishlist to see if they've come back in stock or have gone on sale and this solves all my problems for me!
I stumbled across your page searching for the word minimalism on Substack but finding you and realizing you have taken on many of my secondhand dreams. Honestly, GEM is a splendid tool.
I left Poshmark even for the secondhand and new “buy now” sorcery so I’m limited in some ways but not distraught.
I just got an adorable pink fluffy sweater from my local Buy Nothing group because I’m still hoping to one day achieve my edgy chic fashion moniker that I said would truly match my eclectic personality many a moons ago.
All to say … my teen son and I now live here on your page. Subscription pending my next paycheck 🤣 … 🤎
Joelle, I am on the floor with this comment, the best I’ve read in forever. I’m so so thrilled you found this Substack and can’t wait to be friends now. VERY GRATEFUL YOUR HERE.
And I totally looked and felt ah-mazing wearing that fluffy pink sweater. Got no compliments that day on it but don’t care about that anymore. My 9 year old humbled me and said I looked like a flamingo 🦩
I think revisiting your "nos" is maybe the most clarifying exercise for a wardrobe; figuring out what you passed on and why can help you know why you said yes to something else!
I used a Gem alert to track down a vintage sweatshirt with my Alma mater on it. Took me six months but I finally found it!
The shell necklace is very nice but there is so much stunningly unique vintage silver jewelry to be found on eBay. I wonder if this specific iteration of the shell will eventually feel dated or be quite timeless for a specific person. Taxco is my favorite silver jewelry search, and there are lots of cool silver seashell necklaces or charms for under $50 on eBay. Organic shapes and the sea will probably continue to be popular and grounding as we head into 2025.
Lee! I could kiss you for the tip on Taxco and for talking sense into me!! Was I ever going to spend $500 on a necklace; unlikely but it was really tempting me.
Ok wow, I’ve never heard of any of this! Actually, I’ve heard Carted mentioned but didn’t know anything about it- this is all crazy helpful! Thank you!!!
I use YNAB for budgeting, and they introduced me to the concept of a “wish farm.” I input things I want and save up for small, medium, large, and XL purchases. A lot of time just documenting things helps and then I reflect on my wish farm and remember how desperately I wanted something that I’m “meh” about. Love how this is so visual though!
GRACE! I also use YNAB and I never meet anyone else who does so this makes my heart happy. I LOVE being able to set budget goals in the app but do I need to figure out what a Wish Farm is!? Eep!
https://www.ynab.com/blog/wish-lists Here’s YNAB’s description of it. I started using it in 2019, and it totally changed my relationship with my money. It got me out of living paycheck to paycheck, and I love knowing where every dollar goes. It’s so nice to set savings goals for gifts and annual expenses throughout the year and spend that money with less anxiety. 😎
its hard to overstate how much i RELATE to every one of your omissions about insane shopping tactics. I also used to use Pinterest for this purpose and it was such a headache. I downloaded Carted and I'm corralling a short wishlist for my winter 333 capsule - its looking expensive. LOVE this type of partnership!!
Thank you so, so much for being so supportive (right at the bat) but YES I actually think many of us SS who love fashion also jump through some mental hoops before purchasing and use a variety of kooky tactics to do so. sigh so glad I’m not alone.
Ok I am definitely bringing this “maximize the dollar / find preciselyyyyy what you want” energy with me into the new year. This was so helpful 💫 thank you!
I think I'm convinced on Carted... the price updates alone are so helpful! Also didn't realize Gem did saved searches and email alerts - so.much.time.saved!
Ok wait tell us more about this incredible word doc tho?? carted sounds so good for tracking the “decided against” stuff that I need to be reminded of when out and about. I am ashamed to admit I downloaded Gem this summer and truly couldn’t figure out the search metrics (I am maybe TOO specific when searching or stg??? and kept getting frustrated by not being able to drill down but I’m assuming it’s just user error??), but maybe need to give it a shot again 🫡
I have seriously considered exposing the word document before and then thought that everyone would unfollow after seeing it 🤣 I admit that I’ll probably never give it up even though Carted is my preferred way to visually track things.
I think the secret sauce with Gem is casting a VERY wide net. I often don’t even filter by size (unless it’s shoes because it’s good at capturing that). I am embarrassed at how many searches I scroll every morning.
First of all, I downloaded GEM ages ago and totally have neglected it. This is SUCH a good reminder that I need to open it back up!
Also I’ve seen Carted doing sponsored posts with Substack writers but no one has explained it as clearly as you so now I’m more interested in trying. Heck, anything beats my Notes app stream of consciousness wish list! Xx
THANK YOU re Carted. I have also read posts and didn’t download but that’s because (u think) everyone buried the lede that it’s the perfect visual wishlist. We all have our janky means of it anyways!! Also, I meant to include, on mobile you can find Carted on the pop up like when you go to copy the link so it’s an easy save.
STOP!!! I had no idea but I just did some searching and found out it began in Australia and just made it’s way to the US. Fingers crossed it makes it way to you soon. I’ll ask around and let you know what I hear.
Hadn’t heard of either of these but you bet i immediately downloaded
Beyond flattered at your faith 🫡

I'm obsessed with Carted. I used to have a crazy notes app with hyperlinks and this is waaaay better. Now need to go try Gem!
Maggie; I’m so happy we can find a mutual obsession in Carted 👯
Ooh Leanne, we could have a great time discussing this together. I just feel it. 🤣

Stephanie you recently mentioned your Pinterest wishlist and I thought “can’t wait for her to hear about Carted.” We are so similar 👯
I didn’t know about either of these apps so thank you (I think lol 🛍️🛍️🛍️)!
Haha tips from your loving enabler 😂

I had not heard of either of these before!! Will definitely be checking out both.
Also, love that you keep a board of what you decided not to buy to remind you to not go down that route later in the season/year.

1000%!!
Where has Gem been all my life! Instantly hooked - thank you!
Beware: it's so addicting and fun!!

You are too sweet. Frankly I bow down to you after seeing that you just completed your Rule of 5 year; you will school me on all that.

Truly!! Your life just got so much better! More vintage in less time 🤣

Brilliant! Xx
Devastated to find out Carted isn’t available in Canada 😭

Hoping they’ll see this and try to make it work here!
