I wish I had written this piece 😂 Such a good observation and I love love love the reference photos! And I used this just today when I did a little push of the sleeves as my layered outfit felt too stiff!
Yes! Esp the just wearing hair up/back when I am very covered up (as is my preference once weather allows lolol). Actually going to try it rn with an outfit I like in theory but am having some … hesitation abt irl hahah 🤞🤞
Colorado Kelly I love the intention of including our skin into our style and outfits. How often do we focus on a swipe of mascara or lip gloss on our face as that’s the only skin to think about? 🙌
SO GOOD KELLY!! You pulled such great outfit inspo for this amazing tip!! Skin is definitely one of the aspects I check for when putting on an outfit - it just always provides that little bit of femininity, balance, undoneness I might be craving and no additional purchases required!
I love a free accessory! And, honestly, it is a great check before leaving the house; is there a turned cuff, hair pulled up/back, or something to add that extra *sumthin sumthin*
YES! You are hitting on something here. There is something much more casual about our clothes post 2020; even our suiting! Or at least that’s what I’m drawn to!
I LOVE this and all of the inspo! One of my favourite ways to dress in early autumn is by mixing sandals with heavier trousers or knitwear with bare legs. This post has given me so many more outfit ideas.
Great examples, so practical and easy to replicate in real life. Stylists are often overuse this trick trying to sell us oversized blazer / coat by styling it with undies + pointed toe shoes
😂 laughing so hard because it's true!! Listen, I love the look of a tiny short/skirt under a big ole blazer but for the vast majority of us that is NOT a workable outfit.
I love this idea and I can’t believe I never thought of all the modest ways to show skin — exposing the ear, wrist, ankle, neck are all such good styling tips!
I have long wished for ears that stick out like a little bit more because I love the way Kate Mara's ears are a whole dang accessory when she pulls her hair back!!
All the styles? I think that's actually what makes MK&A and Zoe so brilliant, honestly. They wear their clothes with so much intention that it's really about noticing the subtle things they do. At least in my opinion.

This is the best compliment I could get; I’ve read other people’s writing and thought “dang I wish I had done that.” Soooo THANK YOU 😘
Another hit!! I’ve done this before but never intentionally so going to do so this fall!!
Thanks for being so encouraging Ofelia!! It’s going to be top of mind for me as I dress in layers this fall.
This was great but it's peek not peak. :)
HAAAAAA! Thank you for the catch. I could really use a copy editor ;)
Couldn't we all! Common typos remind me, we're all human <3
Thank you for this! So embarrassing!
Just wanted to say I coming back to this all month when something is off abt my outfit and I can’t figure out what!!
Hooray!!! Do you feel like it’s doing the trick?!

AH! When you put it that way, even better! We know/care about the skin of our face showing but there are all these other flashes we can give.

Love this roundup! The layering is sooooo relaxed. Perhaps a direct result of WFH-life/post-Covid world?

the best accessory!

I think the flip-flop/trouser combo is my favorite. You have an incredible way of styling oversized pieces already so I’m glad this inspired.
Love these examples! Next time an outfit feels off, I'm going to reference this and see how I can incorporate showing some skin.
When I woke up this morning (with finally a touch of cool in the air) I used an oversized shirt to play with this too!

Actually it's my summer uniform, but it"s rather exclusion from real life purposes

Big fan of this!! Esp in the climate where I live this is easy to accomplish year round. Such a great reminder!
Yes!! You can probably pull off flip flops with trousers most of the year!
💯!!
I feel this as well living in the Bay Area. It’s the perfect climate for layers and sweaters with sandals
Skin! Yes! I so appreciate your inspo + observations. This is genius. This idea of using covered/uncovered as an accessory. XX
Yes! Skin as accessory!!
Ooooh yay I’m following you on Pinterest now! I’m a true Pinterest girlie!!!!
Yay! It's my favorite app, but don't tell Substack😉
Despite all their perceived differences, I couldn't help myself to believe they all look somehow alike, but it's maybe only me 🤔🥴🤓💯
